Sharon Nelson is an independent courageous,committed African-American woman,who advocates for her community.
Sharon was born in Kingston, Jamaica her family immigrated to Brooklyn and she received her education at PS 45, IS 291 and Eli Whitney High School, she went to NYC Technical College for Secretarial Science, Bergen Community College and Nyack College for her B.S. in Organizational Management.
Sharon‘s daily drive and motivation is to empower students to get a good education. This journey began with her two sons, as a parent she became involved in various school programs. Later on she became the President of the PTA & PTSA and partnered with the PTA Council.
Sharon received the PTA Council Founders Day Award, Honorary Life Membership Award and PTA’s Distinguished Service Award. Sharon also serves as a Board member with HYLA (Hudson Youth Leadership Academy) and NBCDI (National Child Development Institute) Board member.
Sharon currently works as an administrator at Montessori School and she works as a Director of a Homecare residence. Her past work experience includes being an Executive Assistant for the Executive team and Registered Representative for an Investment banking firm.
